Resetting to Default Settings

Follow these steps to restore LightBurn to the same settings as when you first installed — be aware that you will also lose any device profiles you've created in this process.

Warning

While this process can be helpful in cases where you have a great many incorrect settings and want to start over, we recommend trying Load Prefs Backup or Reset to Default Layout before a full reset.

We also recommend making a User Bundle that can be reimported into LightBurn if needed.

  1. Open LightBurn.
  2. Go to FilePreferencesOpen Prefs Folder. You should see a pair of files called prefs.ini and prefs.old along with a folder called backup, along with a few other files.
  3. Close LightBurn. If you leave LightBurn open, the settings you're trying to delete will automatically be restored when you eventually do close the program.
  4. Delete all the files and folders in the prefs folder. If you leave the backup folder, LightBurn will automatically restore the settings you're trying to erase from the backups.
  5. Re-open LightBurn. All settings should be reset to default, and all devices will be removed.

That’s it. When you re-run you’ll be asked to set up your laser again, and everything will be as new.
